CHESM Program In Review
Chevron's global workforce is dedicated to the belief that all incidents are preventable and that the goal of incident-free operations is attainable. In Thailand Profit Center, we commit to achieving world-class health and safety performance. In addition, we expect our business partners/contractors are working toward the same HES goals as we do.
We have implemented Contractor Health, Environment, and Safety Management (CHESM) program in our operation premises. This program is set up with three main purposes:
1. To establish clear accountabilities for Chevron personnel and contractor personnel;
2. To ensure active engagement of business partners/contractors; and
3. To provide a consistent program to eliminate health, environment and safety (HES) incidents and injuries among contractors.
This program is applied to all business partners/contractors working within the operational control of Chevron Thailand with High/Medium Risk in their scope of work. It is the responsibility of a main contractor to ensure that their sub-contractors meet all Chevron Health, Environment and Safety requirements.
Steps in the program are:
-
Leadership Roles & Accountabilities - Each contract firm is required to identify a management representative who will serve as the primary contact person and demonstrate leadership role in the company. The individual needs to be able to make commitments on budget and resource allocation. Learn more about Contractor Roles & Responsibilities
-
Qualification and Selection are to screen contractors for selection based on their likelihood to meet Chevron's HES performance and expectations. Every contractor considered for selection is required to complete CHESM Questionnaire to access the HES Rating.
-
Pre-Job Activities consist of pre-job meeting, project safety plan, orientation program, HES Key Performance Indicator (KPI) set up.
-
Work in Progress Activities include interim performance review, field inspection, management system audit, management visit, toolbox meeting, contractor safety meeting and etc.
-
Post-Job Activity is to review HES performance and capture best practices along with lessons learned for future improvement.
For continuous improvement, the program is reviewed annually as a minimum.
