Contractor Engagement Meeting & Awards Luncheon held on March 10, 2009

In an ongoing effort to reduce contractor incidents in Chevron Thailand, Khun Tara Tiradnakorn invited all of our Thailand contractors to attend a Contractor Engagement meeting at the Swissôtel Le Concorde Hotel on March 10, 2009.

A total of 279 participants attended this meeting; 86 Chevron representatives, and 193 representatives from 84 business partners/contractors. The theme for this years meeting was leadership accountability. The Thailand leadership team outlined specific expectations that Chevron has for contractors concerning Stop Work, JSA’s, BBS, and Safe Work Practices. Our contractor base also heard a strong message on hand safety and case management along with some tools that they can bring back and share with their workgroups.

The event featured several motivational speakers including Lewis Senior, director for Equilibria. The Equilibria E-Colours personality profiling technique was the main focus of Lewis Senior’s discussion; Chevron is excited about this
concept as it blends in well with communication, leadership and risk management.

This forum provides an opportunity for us to meet and to share our expectations and learning’s relative to Operational Excellence (OE), and to recognize the outstanding efforts of several of our contractors who are on the path to achieve and sustain world class performance in safety, health, environment, reliability and efficiency. The events’ format provides a framework to partner and network, enabling a win/win approach to the core of our business…. “protecting people and the environment.”
